(March 25 - 27)

Leaving Tucson, Arizona we drove for 13 hours and arrived in San Antonio, Texas at sundown. We were able to take some evening photos of the city from our balcony. Just a few blocks away was an evening light show that projected scenes upon the face of a church that portrayed the history of San Antonio. It was very well done and a good way to start our stay in San Antonio.
St. Fredricks church front at night with the projection show (above) and the same church during the day. A tomb is inside the front entrance with the ashes of the soldiers from the Alamo battle.
The river ran right next to our resort and the day couldn't end without a walk on "The Riverwalk" and seeing the sights at night that we had viewed on the boat ride. It was the perfect night with just a slight breeze and perfect temperature.
A full day, indeed.
Remember The Alamo
The Alamo cats grave site. We saw the current cat roaming around but when we wanted a picture it was no where around.
The Boat cruise on the River
Our driver and Howard became picture buddies.
The Space Needle (not the people) A wall with no support? City buildings seen
looks like it might fall over. from the river boat.
Cathedrals & The San Antonio Temple
Before leaving San Antonio on Tuesday, March 27, we visited some of the cathedrals within walking distance and then went to the temple before leaving the area and heading onto the next stop.
Austin, Texas
(March 27 - 29)

Our drive from San Antonio to Austin took about 2 hours 30 minutes in the rain. It was a beautiful drive. Arrived at dusk and checked into an amazing Presidential unit that had windows on three sides of the building. A great view of the city. The unit was very retro and had only been open 2 months. The furniture, decor and building style was totally '50's. Vinyl records and player, graffiti galvanized metal lights, a fooseball table, concert walls and ceilings and furniture that looked like our grandparents.
We had fun playing fooseball and listening to the old time music. They did a great job of keeping the Austin theme....."Keep Austin Weird"
One of the streets of Austin was the place that the artists went and painted everything. Graffiti heaven. We even saw one of the artists with her can of spray paint.
We also enjoyed the thunder and lightning display all night the first night of our stay. Lit up the whole building and made the closure of the swimming pool.
This was such a beautiful pool area that overlooked the city. Because of thunderstorms it was closed for the first few days we were there so we didn't spend much time there.

The view from the the balcony from all sides.
The Graffiti Heaven Hill
The Capitol Building and Monument
Houston, Texas
(March 29 - 31)
This was our stop to break up the driving of this part of our trip. We stayed in a hotel because Wyndham does not have a building here yet. Forgot that the temple was still closed due to the flood from the hurricane last fall. Won't be open until the middle of April. So we just drove by and took photos and then went to the show, "I can Only Imagine" Very good movie that makes you cry.
