All the pubs and restaurants have live western bands.   Everyone is welcome to enter and sit and listen to the music.  No pressure to purchase anything.  Can sit as long as you want and then go on to the next on.  Lots of music artists playing for tips and waiting for their big break.

We left Nashville early in the morning so that we could attend the 9:00 session at the Nashville Tennessee Temple.  Then we proceeded on our over 6 hour road trip to Arkansas.

Fairfield Bay, Arkansas
(April 25 - April 28)

Fairfield Bay was one of the first resorts built by Fairfield Resorts in 1981. Fairfield started in Arkansas in an old converted gas station and is now booming all over the nation. The beginnings of the now Wyndham Resorts.  Located in a very beautiful area and continues to offer a quiet get away.

The wrap around deck gave us plenty of room to view the mountains (hills) in our backyard.

Indian Rock Cave Hike
(April 26)

At the beginning of the trail was this little cabin that was used by settlers years ago.  Had a spinning wheel and a crib and bed and kitchen utensils.  Glad I didn't live back then.

This is the biggest of the Indian caves in this area.  There are 6 that have been preserved of the 150 that have been found in this area of Arkansas.

Along the trail we found more little caves and wondered what was hiding in there.  Might be bears or bats or spiders or whatever.  We heard the cooing of birds and actually had a flock of pigeons fly over our heads.

Walking along the trail these two little fox kits came running out of the cave pictured above and started to play.  When they heard us they stopped and poised for a picture and then ran back into the cave.  On the upper trail a few yards away we were startled as the mom of these little ones came running towards us.  We stopped and said, "Whoa" the same time the fox stopped, and for a split second we were eye to eye and the fox turned and headed down the hill.  Happened so fast and were so startled that the camera didn't get out.  Kodak moment captured in the mind!

Look really hard for the photo bomber..........

Arkansas has beautiful birds.  So glad that we took the time to be still and observe the natural inhabits  of this forest.  I think this little bird was glad to poise for the photo.

A unique one-of-a-kind American Totem Pole, that was created by a local wood carvers club to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the signing of the Bill of Rights. It was presented to the Fairfield Bay Log Cabin Museum and dedicated on July 4, 1992.

Indian Falls Hike
(April 27)

This was a very easy, almost one mile hike not too far off the road.  We could hear and see the cars on sections of the hike.  Started out with interesting rock formations and spring flowers and moss.

There were many little falls along the way.  Water cascading over rocks and landing into pools  from various rock formations along the small canyon.

Thank goodness there were three chairs set up at the end of the trail for a place to sit and enjoy the beauties of nature and rest the feet. (The chairs were chained and locked to the trees!)
